A patient-authored article looking at a "controversial" story and parsing out the science — lots of background and science on what may be behind ME/CFS and how it relates with our feelings about being sick. (Read Paul Garner's personal account here.)
Put on your science hat for a "who dun it" article about sickness, the nervous system and why each person's condition is unique
There is a lot of pain and trauma in the ME/CFS community, and for good reason. Read this article with compassion and mindfully process any hard emotions; take breaks and remember that someone else's story may not be your story. You may OR MAY NOT have a lifelong chronic illness. Take hope from this note at the end: "Perhaps the most critical fact about any recovery story is that it’s just one of many. Health Rising has 63 recovery stories on its website that run the gamut from antiviral, functional medicine, diet, fecal transplant, hormones, mold avoidance, surgical and yes, mind/body (13 of them). I have 10-15 more recovery stories waiting to be processed which include recoveries due to functional medicine, DNRS, blood volume enhancement, fasting, yoga, ketogenic-meditation-functional medicine, exercise-diet-pacing-mind/body, etc."
